Local Outreach Ministries

The mission of all our ministries is to fulfill the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment.  Essentially, we want to get the Word out and help make & mobilize mature disciples of Jesus Christ… a calling that encompasses our heart for local outreach and global missions as well.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)
And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the great and foremost commandment. (Matthew 22:37-38)

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."  (Matthew 9:37)

That translates into local action, too—putting our hands and feet to work for Christ in our corner of the world through evangelism and comppasion.

Through Benevolence & Compassion Ministries at Harvest, we desire to reach out to people in need in our Harvest church body, our northern Lake County community and the greater Chicagoland area.  In reaching those outside our church body we recognize that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away, behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) As we serve those who have great needs we know that the starting point for their real life transformation begins with salvation.

Mission:
To proclaim in word and deed the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who need help and to whom God calls us.

Vision:
To involve people in our church in compassion ministry opportunities that God has called us to and prepared us for. (Ephesians 2:10)

Values:

  • Witness  -  We are bold witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ as we reach out in word and deed. (Acts 1:8)
  • Service  -  We willingly choose to serve sacrificially, in keeping with the command and heart of God. We intentionally look for the interest of others to serve them at their point of need.  (Philippians 2:4)
  • Dependence  -  We knowingly serve, not counting on our wisdom or strength but in full dependence on God. We know it is only in and through Jesus Christ that people will receive what they truly and desperately need. Prayer is our foundation and indicator of our full trust in Him. (Jeremiah 33:3)
  • Example  -  We look to Jesus Christ as our example in our service to others. (Mark 10:45)
  • Teachable  -  We serve with a teachable and humble spirit, knowing we desperately need God’s help and that with Him all things are possible. (Luke 1:37)

Let’s be ready to respond!  Be in prayer and alert for the call to connect with our community as the Lord would lead in the months to come.
